MORGANA MORENO & MARCELO ROSÁRIO
Virtuosity, sensitivity and a deep musical connection are at the heart of this nearly 20-year partnership between flutist Morgana Moreno and guitarist Marcelo Rosário. Finalists of the 6th Prêmio Profissionais da Música, the duo celebrates Brazilian music through a distinctive approach that brings influences from classical music and jazz into a Brazilian popular music setting.
In their intimate flute-and-guitar format, the two musicians constantly shift between the roles of soloist and accompanist, engaging in a musical dialogue shaped by arrangements and improvisation. Their repertoire combines original compositions with fresh interpretations of Brazilian music.
With Nascente, the duo performed more than 40 concerts across Brazil and Europe in 2019, before releasing the album digitally in 2020 and taking part in a range of major projects and concert series.
In recent years, the duo has expanded its presence on important Brazilian and international stages, including the Festival de Jazz do Capão (2023), the renowned Instrumental Sesc Brasil series at Teatro Anchieta, Sesc Consolação (São Paulo), and São Paulo Jazz Weekend. In 2024, they also performed at the Brazilian Embassy in Asunción, Paraguay, as part of the Jazz Sudaca Festival.
THE DUO
Finalists of the 6th Prêmio Profissionais da Música, the Bahia-born musicians have performed at major venues and festivals across Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Paraguay.
During a six-year period living and working in Europe, they recorded their first album, Miscellaneous (2016), featuring European musicians from the jazz and world music scenes. The experience helped shape a sound rooted in Brazilian musical traditions while embracing improvisation and a contemporary musical language.
